Behind you something follows
Dragging itself at your feet
Something from just beyond the veil
That sways just beneath your vision.
Are you afraid or are you fascinated?
Your definition creates this creature
Allowing it to either sneer with evil
Or bring a wise song on the winds.
There is also an importance in turning
And looking up to the skies
To notice that it’s the moon … or sun
That has revealed this shade upon your heels.
